Checking in on your yoga studio vision and goals

As we move forward it's important in your yoga studio business to continue to check in on your goals and accomplishments and continue to make any necessary adjustments.

How do you want to close out the year so that you know the position you want to start out in for next year?

We like to say that you use three levels or tools to do this: binoculars, a magnifying glass, and a rear-view mirror.

We keep track of and refer to our metrics so that we have a better idea of the seasonal ebbs and flows of our business. Not all months are the same. The wisdom of that is that you know there will be some historically slower and you don’t need to bite your nails.

Binoculars: Look at your long term goals. These include from now until the end of the year and beyond. Consult your year over year results to measure growth. You may even want to leave notes for yourself and remember what happened and help define and recall action points for the month.

A magnifying glass is what you use to look at what is happening right now? Consider the little adjustments that we need to make. You might want to look at current enrollment ratios, retention ratios, do you need to promote any big programs?

A rear-view mirror helps you learn from the past. What has worked in before? What hasn't? Be aware of the seasons of your business by paying attention to the natural ebbs and flows.  If you feel like this summer that you didn’t do as much business - in the big scheme of your year that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. When you’re setting a monthly revenue goal you don’t have to set the same goal month over month as there is an ebb and a flow. It’s important to keep in mind the seasons.

Binoculars are for looking forward. It’s easy to set a big, crazy, lofty, one-year goal on January 1st.  Avoid the mad dash by getting your goals in place now. How do you want to finish up your year? Remember: Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in five.

What can you learn today from looking through a magnifying glass, a rear-view mirror, and binoculars in evaluating your business? How does this inform your next steps?
